About
Over a decade ago, I nearly died. My body was failing. I was in a coma, and doctors said I had just 24 hours to live. Against the odds, a transplant saved my life.
That experience gave me a deep appreciation for how fragile and precious life is—and it reshaped how I live. Since then, I’ve been intentional about making the most of my days, and I now spend my time helping others do the same.
Before becoming a writer and speaker, I spent 25 years in Silicon Valley helping people grow and thrive at some of the world’s top tech companies, most recently at LinkedIn, where I was Vice President of Learning & Development. That work deepened my belief that growth, purpose, and perspective are essential—not just in careers, but in life.
Today, I share ideas and inspiration for a life less ordinary through my books, workshops, and talks. I’m the author of A Life Worth Living, Cracking the Career Code, and a new book, Words to Wonder, releasing on November 10, 2025.
I live in San Jose, California, with my wife Vicky, our dog Walter, a dozen guitars, and a baby grand piano.
I help people live better lives—lives of meaning and purpose.
How My Work Can Help You
In her poem The Summer Day, Mary Oliver asks: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” That question is at the heart of my work.
My goal is simple: to help people make the most of their one wild and precious life.
I write about topics like…
How to clarify what matters most — your perspective, priorities, and purpose
How to stop settling for less — so you don’t look back on an unlived life
How to build discipline and determination — the habits that drive growth
How to turn intention into action — with focus and urgency
How to master the elements that shape life most — work, money, relationships, faith, and character
Each week, I share ideas and inspiration for a life less ordinary in my Take Two newsletter. I also invite you to explore my books—A Life Worth Living, Cracking the Career Code, and Words to Wonder (releasing in November 2025).
Join me in the pursuit of a remarkable life.
